Meditation, Early Morning

The thing is, I always come back.

Awakening,
White and luminous the light beyond the window
Outlined by the sycamore
and its miniature new leaves
Flat to my one-eyed vision as I lie here.
I perceive
        the busy-ness of the dawn chorus;
        inactive and still-heavy limbs;
        coolness of sheets.

I relax muscles.

Momentary hesitation and then….

	boundaries soften

	mind unshutters

Return to bounded self. Already the light has exchanged its liminal quality for the certainty of day.

“I suppose you think being polyamorous means I can love someone else, and your dying doesn’t matter. But that’s not it. Loving you means loving you. And now you and all these others have brought me death. So to love the world means I have to love death too.”

Richard Rolt, in the words of Pranashakti, May 2025
